Ocassionally, I will get a call from someone : I have anywhere from 10 acres and up and I want a bulldog ...he will have plenty of room to run!! Well first of all, a bulldog doesn't need 1/2 acre to play or walk in, they seldom run for any lenght of time ! and if they do you need to make sure they don't get overheated and also know how to cool him properly! Brachycephalic breeds that have short noses and faces can overstress and/or overheat and/or have a heat stroke if proper care and precautions by the owner is not given. Bulldogs are like kids...sometimes they do not know when to stop playing!! Everything is sooo fun...all this attention ..all this excitement...and they are all here for ME!! ...just to see ME and to play with ME! what more could I ask for? The combination of their breathing apparatus, excitement , and activity if not controlled properly can be deadly.....it depends on you the owner to know how to manage this.
